Roy Parado

Roy Parado, born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, has been an entertainer for the past 12 years. Beginning as a dancer in the latter part of ‘95, under the direction of Desiree AnJalique (Hula Halau O’ Makalapua/ Marama Te Mafatu Nui), he has grown and developed into an accomplished dancer winning several trophies, including his most notable, 1996 Mr. Heiva Tahiti San Jose. Under the guidance of his good friend and mentor, Sam Almira, Roy has expanded his impressive resume to include Tahitian drumming. With the notion of knowing that one cannot know everything, Roy still considers himself a student of the Arts; constantly attending workshops, cultivating friendships, perfecting technique, learning new dances, chants and costume making. “Dance with your heart first and your mind and body will soon then follow…” It is this philosophy that fuels his drive to continue to perpetuate his love for the culture.
